Wearable Spatial Monitor
Technological Exploration - 24 hours

A hardware project designed, created, and tested in under 24 hours for the 2017 Hack@Brown Hackathon. It is an attachment for the shoe that aids those who have visual disadvantages navigate space such as the elderly. A vibrating motor located on the inside of the attachment notifies the user of when there are obstacles approaching in front and below the foot. This is achieved with sonar sensors that read the distance that the foot is from the ground and of objects in front of the foot. Our design was awarded the Newcomer Award.
